Waterproof, how?
How does it come that the jewelry from Shanti Jewels doesn't fade?
How is our Jewelry Waterproof?
"How is your Jewelry Waterproof?" is our most frequently asked question.
After years of wearing Jewelry that would lose the color in a few usages we understand that it is hard to believe that we have found a solution.
We have 2 secrets: Stainless Steel and PVD Coating Process!
What is Stainless Steel?
The Stainless Steel is highly durable metal that doesn’t oxidise or rust - meaning, it doesn’t turn green - it happens because it has chromium in its composition.
Why do we love it?
•It’s a hard material, so it doesn’t scratch easily;
•Given its durability and quality, it’s the material that Rolex and Cartier watches are made of - yes it’s true!
•It's a sustainable material: Stainless steel is 100% recyclable;
•Stainless steel is a hypoallergenic material, therefore suitable for those people who have an allergy to silver. Stainless steel is less allergenic than jewellery made of other metals.
But how does our jewelry keep its gold tone?
With the PVD Coating Process!
We at Shanti Jewels use a coating process called PVD - Physical Vapor Deposition to coat our jewelry in gold tone - This is the most modern coating process available. But why does it last way longer than most of the jewelry we know? The high majority of the jewelry available in the market is gold plated. Gold plating is the most common coating process and occurs when a thin layer of real gold is plated onto another metal. The jewelry is dipped in real gold, like a “bath”. Depending on the thickness of the layer, this can last more or less time. However, it doesn’t offer the durability of the PVD process - the process we use.
Why do we love it?
•Gold PVD coating can be 10 times thicker than standard gold plating!
•PVD is a vacuum coating process that produces a brilliant decorative and functional finish.
•PVD utilizes a titanium nitride that provides an extremely durable coating that makes our jewelry more resistant to corrosion from sweat and regular wear than the usual gold plating.
The best part? The PVD process doesn’t limit the recycling value of the stainless steel. Plus, no polluting substances are produced and no toxic residues from any stage of the process exist to poison our planet. PVD is safe, clean, super efficient and environmentally friendly.
